It is a celebration of La Union’s natural scenery and pristine beaches that gave La Union titles as such, “Surfing Capital of North Philippines” and “The Place of Endless Summers”. It is a celebration expressed in music and dance.

The street dance shall highlight the theme: “WOW La Union: Surfing Break @ 5”. Concept of the street dance, costume and performance are left to the discretion of the participants based on their own interpretation of the theme.

The competition is open to all secondary and tertiary schools of Region I and neigboring cities. Head of the contingents shall submit the lists of dancers, instrumentalists, and support staff to the Event Secretariat. Only the first ten schools to register will be included in the contest.

The composition of the contingent shall be within a minimum of 25 and a maximum of 35 dancers. A minimum of ten (10) and a maximum of twenty (20) instrumentalists shall accompany the dancers. All dancers and instrumentalists must be in an attire consistent to their theme. All hand props shall be carried by the dancers all throughout the street parade route.

Street dancing begins at 9:00 AM. Dance steps and choreography should be progressive all through out the parade route to facilitate the continuity and orderly flow of the parade. One (1) point shall be deducted from the total score against any contingent who violates this provision.

An exhibition at Urbiztondo beach area follows. The minimum length of performance will be five (5) minutes and the maximum is seven (7) minutes inclusive of the entrance and exit. One (1) point shall be deducted from the total score against any contingent who violates this provision.

Sequence of performance will be determined by drawing of lots. If a team is not present during the drawing of lots, it will get the last pick in the lot.

The decision of the Board of Judges shall be final and unappealable. Absolutely, no participant or contingents’ representative shall contact in any way or manner any judge before or after the competition.

The Surfing Break Event Committee reserves the right to disqualify and prohibit the participation of any contingent/ group whose costume/ choreography or behavior do not conform to normal standards of morality and good conduct.
