Proving itself as the team to beat for the 4th Basketball Coaches Association of La Union (BCALU) Basketball Tournament, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Basketball Team registered a convincing victory for the Bracket A 2nd elimination round last February 18 at the Ortega Gym at the expense again of Thunderbird, 111-81.

Led by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ex-Officio Member Manuel Victor “Mannix” R. Ortega, Jr. who posted a tournament high 13 monstrous three pointers from the rainbow country, PGLU never allowed Thunderbird to get a taste of the lead during the whole stretch of the game. Motivated by Board Member Mannix’s energy, the PGLU bench also contributed huge points and impressive defense, providing much-deserved rest for their starters.

The top scorers for the PGLU Governors were Ortega, 43; Cariño, 14; and Mondina and Ramos, 10 points a piece.
