The La Union Vibrant Women, Inc. (LUVWI) gathered at the Diego Silang Hall of the Capitol Bldg on March 26, 2009 in celebration of the Women’s Month with the theme “Babae: Yaman ka ng bayan”.

In her welcome address, Ms. Geraldine R. Ortega, President of LUVWI urged the members to think of “betterment”. The “Mother of the Province” challenged everyone “to be better people and constituents of the province.” “Domino-effect of being good to others, it is best to set good examples to others and do things for the greater glory of God” the wife of Governor Ortega said. Rev. Fr. Froilan Saluta served as the recollection master. Reflections focused on “Forgiveness” and the “Humanity of Forgiving”.

Gov. Manuel C. Ortega, as the guest of honor and speaker, added liveliness to the occasion with his cool antics and talked about the value of forgiveness. On a sober note, he discussed his stint as Mayor of San Fernando where he served as the “spark plug of progress”, through the drastic improvement of peace and order. The Governor gave emphasis on peacefulness that eventually translates to progress, a legacy which our children and their children’s children will inherit, he said. He also acknowledged the “good teamwork with the local Church providing spiritual guidance in the quest for the province’s progress”. “La Union is worth dying for,” the father of the province concluded.

Prizes of winners during the “LUVWI evening of Songs and Dances” last February 26, 2009 were distributed. Capping the program is the awarding of Financial Assistance for the municipal skills training program of LUVWI.
